Ferrochrome Production
Ferrochrome is manufactured by conducting carbothermic reduction of iron magnesium chromium oxide under high temperatures. Iron-chromium alloy is produced by the reduction of Chromium Ore by the application of coal and coke. This reduction process requires heat from the furnace’s electric arc. The arc can create temperatures around 2800 °C. A great amount of electricity is consumed while producing such intense heat, making this a very costly process.

The addition of chromium can significantly improve the oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance of steel. Chromium is found in many steels with special physical and chemical properties. Chromium in steel is added with ferrochrome. The hardness and wear resistance of cast iron can be improved by adding chromium, and the mechanical properties can be improved by containing 0.5% ~ 1.0% chromium.
The Main Uses and Specification of High Carbon Ferrochrome
Used as an alloying agent for ball steel, tool steel, and high-speed steel with higher carbon content, to improve the hardenability of steel, and increase the wear resistance and hardness of steel.
Used as an additive to cast iron, improve the wear resistance and hardness of cast iron, and improve the heat resistance of cast iron.
Used as chromium-containing raw material for the production of a silicon chromium alloy, medium, low, and micro carbon Ferro chrome by the slag-free method.
Used as chromium-containing raw material for electrolysis production of chromium metal.
Used as raw material for smelting stainless steel by oxygen blowing method.

The Uses and Specifications of Nitrided Ferro Chrome
Nitrided Ferro chrome, also known as nitrogen-containing low-carbon Ferro chrome. It is widely used in stainless steel, heat-resistant steel, corrosion-resistant steel, alloy steel, and other special steel production. According to the research of ZXferroalloy, nitrogen expansion of austenite zone is about 30 times that of nickel, can partially replace the precious metal nickel, and reduce production cost.
