Ferro Manganese
Ferro Manganese is an iron alloy containing high Mn content as much as 80% Mn by weight. It is mainly used as a deoxidiser and counters bad effects of sulphur in metals. FeMn improves hot working properties and impacts properties such as increased strength, hardness toughness and hardenability.

The main classification of ferromanganese: High carbon ferromanganese (containing 7% carbon), medium carbon ferromanganese (containing 1.0~1.5% carbon), low carbon ferromanganese (containing 0.5% carbon), metal manganese, ferric mirror, silicon manganese alloy. In steelmaking, used as deoxidizer and alloy additives, is the largest amount of ferroalloy.
Types of Ferro Manganese
Low carbon ferro manganese
Low carbon ferro manganese (LC Ferromanganese): a ferroalloy composed of manganese and iron, with a carbon content of 0.2-0.7%.

Medium carbon ferro manganese
Medium carbon ferro manganese refers to a ferromanganese alloy with a carbon content of 0.7%-2.0%
Improve the hardness and practicality of steel: Medium carbon ferromanganese as an additive can improve the hardness and practicality of steel, making it more suitable for manufacturing practical parts and tools.
Improve the toughness and impact properties of steel: The addition of medium carbon ferromanganese can improve the toughness and impact properties of steel, making it more practical and reliable when subjected to stress.
Improve the corrosion resistance of steel: The manganese element in medium carbon ferromanganese can improve the corrosion resistance of steel, making it more durable in harsh environments.
Used to make special steel types: Medium carbon ferromanganese can also be used to make some special steel types, such as high-strength low alloy steel, heat-resistant alloy steel, etc.

High carbon ferro manganese
High carbon ferro manganese is an alloy composed of manganese and iron. Carbon content is 7% to 8.0%.
Electric furnace high carbon ferromanganese is mainly used in steelmaking as deoxidizer, desulfurizer and alloy additive. In addition, with the advancement of medium and low carbon ferromanganese production technology, high carbon ferromanganese can also be used to produce medium and low carbon ferromanganese.
Blast furnace high carbon ferromanganese: Used as deoxidizer or alloying element additive in steelmaking.

Ferromanganese can be classified according to the amount of carbon content
Low Carbon Ferromanganese (C: 1% max): With lower carbon content, it is mainly used in steelmaking to enhance the hardness and toughness of steel and effectively deoxidise. The production method usually adopts the blast furnace method, similar to the production process of foundry pig iron.
Medium Carbon Ferromanganese (C: 1.0-2.0%): With lower carbon content, it is used in the production of special steel, stainless steel and other special steel. With special treatment, the carbon element of medium carbon ferromanganese can be reduced to about 0.2% or so.
High Carbon Ferromanganese (C: 6-8%): With higher carbon content, it is usually used in casting as deoxidising agent, desulphurising agent and alloy additive.
