75 grade ferro silicon for steelmaking is a silicon-iron alloy used to remove oxygen from molten steel and adjust final silicon content. Its silicon content is usually controlled at Si 72–80%.

In steel plants, FeSi75 is mainly used during tapping, ladle refining or final alloy adjustment. Compared with lower silicon grades, FeSi75 gives stronger silicon input and a faster deoxidation response.

Why 75 Grade Ferro Silicon Is Used in Steelmaking

 

The main role of ferrosilicon in steelmaking is deoxidation. Oxygen in molten steel needs to be reduced before casting. If oxygen remains high, alloy recovery becomes unstable and final composition control becomes harder.

FeSi75 works because silicon reacts strongly with oxygen. After addition, it helps reduce dissolved oxygen and brings silicon into the required range.

A lower silicon grade can also work in some cases, but the operator may need more addition to reach the same silicon target. In ladle treatment, this may mean more waiting time, more sampling and another correction before casting.

FeSi75 is selected when the plant wants the deoxidation step to be faster and easier to control.
