Metallurgical industry
Coarse metal silicon powder (1-5mm): used for steelmaking deoxidation, too large particle size leads to slow reaction rate, too small particle size is easily carried away by airflow.

Fine metal silicon powder (100-325 mesh): In the synthesis of organic silicon monomer, the reaction rate increases by 15% for every 50μm decrease in particle size.
Requirement: The specific surface area must be ≥2m²/g, otherwise the reaction time needs to be extended or the temperature needs to be increased.

Electronic industry
Ultrafine metal silicon powder (<1μm): Semiconductor-grade silicon powder needs to be polished by chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) to control the surface roughness to Ra<0.5nm.
Lithium battery negative electrode: The particle size of silicon powder in silicon-carbon composite materials needs to be controlled at 5-20nm to alleviate volume expansion (expansion rate <300%).
