Phosphorus is a harmful component in general steel, but in some special products, adding phosphorus can improve the performance of steel. Phosphorus iron is widely used in rolls, automobile cylinder liners, engine rollers and large castings to increase the corrosion resistance and wear resistance of mechanical parts.

Phosphorus is partially soluble in ferrite and partially forms brittle compounds in steelmaking. At room temperature, the plasticity and toughness of steel decrease sharply, and the brittle transition temperature increases. Refined from high-quality MTR, it has no impurities and no powder. Its phosphorus content is particularly stable, its appearance is exquisite, and it is easy to mix and operate.

Phosphorus is a harmful impurity in most steels. But in some cases it has its special role. For example, adding phosphorus to some steel types can improve the strength, corrosion resistance and processability of the steel, but it also increases the brittleness of the steel. Adding phosphorus to cast iron can improve the fluidity of molten iron, thereby improving the performance and surface quality of castings; gray cast iron contains 0.5% phosphorus, which can improve its tensile strength. Wear-resistant cast iron contains about 0.15% phosphorus, which can significantly improve its wear resistance.
