Production process of ferrotitanium
Remelting method
Use titanium scrap and scrap steel as raw materials, remelt in an induction furnace, and produce ferrotitanium with about 70% Ti (Fe-Ti has a low eutectic point at about 68% Ti). In order to reduce the burning loss of titanium during the remelting process, the titanium scrap is packed in a steel cylinder and compacted. A mixture of barium chloride and sodium chloride, or cryolite, or a similar low melting point mixture is added as a flux and covered on the ferrotitanium melt. The remelting method can also produce various titanium composite alloys.
Electric silicon thermal method
Use ferrosilicon to reduce the TiO2-FeO-CaO-CaF2 melt in an electric furnace. Composite alloys such as Fe-Ti-Si and Si-Ca-Ti can be produced. If other oxides or other iron alloys are added, multi-component titanium composite alloys can be made.
