The amount of water added during the construction of self-flowing materials is relatively larger than that of refractory castables, because the amount of water added will fill the dispersed ultrafine powder and improve thixotropy, making the castables more free-flowing. When constructing refractory castables, large amounts of water cannot be added. Adding large amounts of water will easily cause the particles to deviate to the west during molding. Moreover, after drainage and baking, the porosity will increase and the strength will also decrease.
Self-flowing materials are used to repair areas where the kiln lining is thin or difficult to construct, while refractory castables are used in large areas of the working layer, and the thickness of more than 100mm can ensure the periodicity of use.
