Ferrotitanium is an alloy mainly composed of titanium and iron, and also contains impurities such as aluminum, silicon, carbon, sulfur, phosphorus, and manganese. It is mainly used as a deoxidizer, desulfurizer, degasser, and alloying agent in the steelmaking process, which can refine the grain size, fix interstitial elements (such as carbon and nitrogen), and improve the strength of steel.
Composition and classification
Ferrotitanium mainly has the following varieties according to the titanium content:
FeTi30: 25.0% to 35.0% titanium, <8.5% aluminum, <5.0% silicon
FeTi40: 35.0% to 45.0% titanium, <9.5% aluminum, <4.0% silicon
FeTi70: 65% to 75% titanium, 0.5% to 5% aluminum, <0.5% silicon
