Processing Technology Of Niobium Alloy Rods
The processing steps of niobium alloy rods are:
1. Primary heating: Heat the niobium alloy (brand name Nb521) ingot in a medium frequency induction heating furnace. The heating temperature is 1350℃~1450℃, and the holding time is 10~15min.
2. Extrusion blanking: Φ220mm×L→Φ105mm×Lˊ, extrusion speed 220mm/s. If necessary, apply a layer of high-temperature anti-oxidation coating on the surface of the ingot after heating and before extrusion. The coating thickness is 0.2-0.3mm. , can make extrusion smoother and reduce defects such as extrusion grooves on the surface of the bar blank.
3. Pickling: The purpose is to remove surface impurities, and the metallic luster can be seen with the naked eye.
4. Heat treatment: The heat treatment temperature is 1400~1500℃, and the holding time is 60~120min.

5. Cutting to length: Calculate and cut materials based on 1.15 to 1.40 times the weight of the final product.
6. Secondary heating: Perform secondary heating in a medium frequency induction heating furnace. The heating temperature is 1300℃~1400℃, and the holding time is 8~12min.
7. Forging to obtain the finished billet: length, Φ105mm×L→finished product diameter×Lˊ, forging feed amount L=0.6D (D is the billet diameter before forging), reduction amount Δh=0.03D, in order to obtain a more uniform deformation , during the lengthening operation, the feeding positions of the front and rear compression passes should be staggered with each other.
8. Finished product turning: turn the forged bar blank in multiple passes to the required dimensional tolerance range, and visually observe that there are no folds, peeling, cracks, cracks or defects stated by the customer.
9. Pickle the finished product, HNO3: HF: H2O = 10: 1: 5 (volume ratio), remove turning oil and other attachments on the surface, and the metallic luster can be seen with the naked eye without any spots.
