Ferro Chrome information
Ferrochromium is an iron alloy composed of chromium and iron. It is an important alloy additive for steelmaking. Ferrochromium is divided into high carbon ferrochrome (carbon content 4~8%), medium carbon ferrochrome (carbon content 0.5~4%), and low carbon ferrochrome (carbon content 0.15~0.50%) according to different carbon contents. Micro-carbon ferrochromium (carbon content 0.06%), ultra-micro carbon ferrochromium (carbon content less than 0.03%), silicon-chromium alloy, ferrochromium nitride, etc.
The lower the carbon content of ferrochromium, the more difficult it is to smelt, the more electricity is consumed, and the cost increases. Ferrochromium with a carbon content of less than 2% is suitable for smelting stainless steel, acid-resistant steel, and other low-carbon chromium steels. Ferrochromium with a carbon content of more than 4% is commonly used to make ball bearing steel and steel for automotive parts. Ferrochrome containing about 5% chromium can be used as a chromium additive for alloy transfer iron.
FeCr is divided into high carbon ferrochrome according to different carbon content, including charge grade ferrochromium (C≤10%), medium carbon ferrochromium (C≤4.0%), low carbon ferrochrome (C≤0.5%), micro carbon ferrochrome Ferrochromium (C≤0.5%). ≤0.15%) etc. Commonly used ones include silicon chromium alloy, ferrochromium nitride, etc. Ferrochrome is mainly used as an alloy additive in steelmaking. In the past, it was added during the later refining stage of steelmaking.
Adding it to steel can significantly improve the oxidation resistance of steel and increase the corrosion resistance of steel. Ferro Chrome Alloy is found in many steels and has special physical and chemical properties. The chromium in steel is added using ferrochromium.
