Ferro Silicon Alloy

 

Ferrosilicon block is produced by reducing silica or sand with coke in the presence of iron. Typical sources of iron are scrap iron and oxide scale. Ferrosilicon, which contains up to about 15% silicon, is produced in blast furnaces lined with acid refractory bricks.

Tests and production applications have shown that due to the use of high-carbon ferrosilicon alloy deoxidation process, the steelmaking cost per ton of steel can be greatly reduced, thereby creating considerable economic benefits and improving the manufacturer's market competitive advantage.

Ferrosilicon may slowly produce hydrogen gas when in contact with water. This reaction is accelerated in the presence of a base and is used to produce hydrogen gas. The melting point and density of ferrosilicon depend on its silicon content.

 

 

Ferrosilicon 75 is used by the military to quickly produce hydrogen for balloons through the ferrosilicon process. The chemical reaction uses sodium hydroxide, ferrosilicon, and water.

 

Ferro Silicon Alloy

 

ZhenAn Ferrosilicon 75 is also used in the manufacture of silicon, corrosion- and high-temperature-resistant iron-silicon alloys, and silicon steel for the cores of electric motors and transformers. In the manufacture of cast iron, ferrosilicon is used to incubate iron to accelerate graphitization. In arc welding, some electrode coatings contain ferrosilicon.

Ferrosilicon is also used in the Pidgeon process to make magnesium from dolomite. Treatment of high-silicon ferrosilicon with hydrogen chloride is the basis for the industrial synthesis of trichlorosilane.
