It is customary for us to call the scraped iron that is splashed by casting, the small pieces of iron left over from finishing, and the picked iron removed before repairing the ladle, etc., as returned iron. These returned iron should be returned to the furnace for remelting to increase production and reduce unit power consumption. Because after adding recycled iron, the conductivity in the furnace is enhanced and the electrodes are easy to rise. If recycled iron is added when the furnace conditions are abnormal, the furnace conditions will easily deteriorate. Therefore, return iron can only be added when the furnace condition is good, especially when the electrode is inserted into the charge deeply and steadily.

1. The recycled iron collected must be the same type of ferrosilicon, and it is strictly prohibited to add other types of ferroalloys.

2. Before adding the returned iron, you should select it. Do not add the iron that is severely slag-added or has too low silicon content into the furnace. The size of the returned iron should not be too large, preferably 50 mm.

3. Returned iron should be added to the furnace core or to the inside of the deeper electrode inserted into the charge. The tap hole is inserted deeper into the electrode, and the recycled iron has a higher silicon content, so it can also be added to the inside of the electrode in this phase. It is called a small-capacity electric furnace, and the returned iron must be added around the electrodes. It is strictly prohibited to allow the returned iron to collide with the electrode.

4. Returned iron should be added into the furnace according to the furnace conditions after tapping. The amount added each time should not be too much to reduce electrode fluctuations.

5. When the silicon content of the products coming out of the furnace is low, do not add returned iron to prevent the production of scrap products.

Since we need to add recycled iron to increase production output and reduce costs, in practical applications, we must master methods to prevent product quality problems caused by improper operation.
