How does niobium react with common chemicals?

At room temperature, niobium is inert to most acids. However, it is attacked by hot concentrated acids. It also reacts with bases and oxidants.
For example, when niobium is exposed to hot concentrated sulfuric acid or nitric acid, it gradually corrodes. In acidic media, niobium is oxidized in the presence of strong oxidants such as potassium permanganate.
When niobium is heated, it reacts with non-metals such as oxygen, nitrogen, and halogens.
