Chrome Corundum Bricks: Performance and Characteristics

Product Description

Chrome corundum is made of alumina powder as the main raw material, suitable for use with chromium oxide and other materials, after high-temperature smelting. It is pink in color, its hardness is similar to that of white corundum, and its toughness is higher than that of white corundum.

Erosion Resistance

With the increase of Cr2O3 content, the anti-erosion performance of the material is gradually enhanced. Erosion tests show that with the change of Cr2O3 content, the erosion resistance of the material can be comparable to or even stronger than that of electrofusion material.

Thermal Expansion and Thermal Shock Resistance

Another advantage of chrome corundum materials is that the thermal expansion curve is linear, whereas the thermal expansion curve of fused AZS is irregular. Due to the elasticity of this structure, internal thermal stresses are greatly reduced. In addition, the presence of zirconium oxide particles in the microstructure inhibits the generation of internal cracks. As a result, chrome corundum materials are more resistant to thermal shock than isostatically molded materials and are well suited for use in the high-load areas of kilns as well as thermal repair materials such as level line patching bricks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is chrome corundum? A refractory made from alumina powder and chromium oxide by high-temperature smelting, pink in color.

Why is Cr2O3 content important? Erosion resistance increases with Cr2O3 content.

Why is chrome corundum thermal-shock resistant? Its linear thermal expansion reduces internal stress, and zirconia particles inhibit crack generation.
